Filling these plastic canvas patterns is a great way to teach small children basic reading as they work with the different letters of the alphabet.
Things You'll Need
1. Yarn
2. Blunt needle
3. Thread
4. Scissors
5. Buttons
6. Beads
7. Glue
8. Feathers
9. Colored paper
10. Magazine cutouts
Instructions
2 Cover the plastic canvas holes with other objects. You can also thread your blunt needle with thick cotton thread and use it to secure buttons or beads tightly to the plastic letter, covering it completely. Beads with letters of the alphabet on them are available at any craft store, and could be worked into the design.
3 Affix other objects to the letters. Rather than filling in the holes of the plastic canvas letters, you can cover them with pictures cut from magazines that start with the same letter, or feathers, or bits of wrapping or other decorative paper. Glue the items directly to the plastic canvas letter, and allow it to dry thoroughly.
